Does anyone know if I can specify a square on a map and capture all zip codes that lie wholly or partially within this square?
I'd like to be able to do it using the MapPoint ActiveX control.
Thanks for any help.

- Over the hill is when you've met so many people
- that every new person you meet reminds you of
- someone else.
Nothing exists that I know of but I don't thnk it be too hard to code it.
You could take your "square" and Programmaticly create a grid from it and then run Walt Cygan's Reverse Geocoding functions on points within the grid to find addresses and thus the Zip Codes.
Anyway, just a rough idea, probably many hours of coding involved. Here is a link to part III of his article on this site in case you have not seen it.

Just map one of the included demographic values on the entire North american map (using the data mapping wizard). Then use the drawing tools to draw your box on the map, right-click this box and select the Export to Excel optin from the menu.
This dumps the demographic values for all ZIP codes for which the center point is inside your box into Excel...a nice neat list of all the ZIP codes!
