MP 2009 and 2006 installed on same PC

I have a VB2008 app that runs fine with MP2006. but when I installed MP2009 on the PC (leaving MP2006 installed) the app runs very peculiarly!
Maps appear to be drawn correctly and to the correct scale. However, shapes, such as Radius, are not drawn to the correct size. eg a 1km Radius paints as a Radius of 0.499 miles.
    Anyone else experienced this?
I uninstalled MP2009 and all was right with the world again!

Could it be that your VS2008 app was instantiating MapPoint 2009?

There is a trick to register or make dominant different versions.

Go to the program files directory of the MapPoint version you want to make the default and type

    mappoint.exe /regserver

    hope this helps,
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
Thanks for this thought. What I don't understand is: whichever version of MP the app actually used, shouldn't the map etc have painted correctly?
I would like the default situation to be that the app uses the latest version of MP installed (ie 2009). Shouldn't the two versions work the same through the same API?

They do work through the same API... I don't know why the radius is different. I guess MapPoint 2009 uses Height and Width or the Diameter instead of the radius actually. I think I noticed that when I was playing around with this recently Drawing Radii (Circles) but didn't realize MapPoint 2006 and 2009 were actually different.
