| Multi-lingual Rest Breaks (and free RouteWriter licenses) North America and Europe (English) both use the phrase "Rest break". Europe (German) uses the word "Pause". What do the other language editions use? (please note any special characters or spacing: I want to key on the rest breaks) Thanks in advance! Richard

| Re: Multi-lingual Rest Breaks (and free RouteWriter licenses)
Hi Richard, I think the best is to put the technical term that is used in the official digital tachographs for the work states of drivers when they take a rest or a break. Forntunally I have a few one here English: Rest German: Ruhe French: Repos Spanish: Descanso Portugueze: Repouzo Flemish (or Dutch): Rust

| Re: Multi-lingual Rest Breaks (and free RouteWriter licenses)
I think I should explain the title - I'm going to give a free RouteWriter license for each language I get that I don't have already. (I already have English and German). The results will be used in the next release of RouteWriter! Wilfried: I want the actual text that MapPoint uses in the directions. So for English it is "Rest Break (2 minutes)" I'm not interested in the time bit because I will key on the start of the text in the Direction object. For German it is "Pause (...)" Eric: Yes I do and this is how I know the German text - I have a German installation on my laptop. It is definitely an option but it would take a while to download all the versions and install them! Richard

Well, just let it run overnight, I'm sure it's not so bad. You can mount the iso's using something like - THE DAEMONS HOME and then install them to run from disk to minimize the disk space requirements. Good luck! Eric |

| Re: Multi-lingual Rest Breaks (and free RouteWriter licenses)
Just looked: There are less languages than I thought: So I only need French, Italian, and Spanish. French is downloading as I type. I now have a fibre optic link - much quicker than the old cable connection - currently forecast at 45 mins rather than the "overnight" that Vista used to take. Richard

I've got them. For completeness, if anyone is interested: English: "Rest break" German: "Pause" French: "Halte" Italian: "Sosta" Spanish: "Parada de descanso" And not a "funny character" (ie. non-English letter) anywhere! Richard

I think he needed to know, not for what the direct translation of "Rest break" should be but for detecting the event in the MapPoint directions, maybe his programming handles rest breaks with some different formatting. Eric |

| Re: Multi-lingual Rest Breaks (and free RouteWriter licenses)
Wilfired: Yes Eric is right. I was using the text to detect the rest break(s) in MapPoint's list of directions. I've been doing some RouteWriter custom work over the past week that did this in English. It made sense to add some of the functionality into the main release of RouteWriter - in which case I really had to make it work for all MapPoint languages. Richard
