Need county name given location of pushpin

I have a mappoint 2002 map containing approximately 10,000 pushpins which have been programatically placed into the map based on desired location. All in the USA. I desperately need to identify the name of the county that each push pin resides in. Does anyone have any code that can derive the county name for a pushpin at a given location?

Thanks,

John

Off the cuff, I would suggest using a GIS engine to work with the census bureau's TIGER county boundaries to accomplish your task.. you might be able to figure out something with the reverse geocoding alghorithms found in articles on this site, but it might be a long shot, I don't think the POI's they depend on contain this info..

I guess I was hoping that there was some way of determining it by using territories or linking it to a county dataset somehow. I can select an area around a pushpin and add it to a territory and the territory matches the county it is in, but why can't I determine what the name of the county is?

I like Mappoint in general, but what I don't like is how difficult it can be to get at obvious information. Information like the counties should be readily available. In my opinion, any information that I can see displayed should be accessible.

Thanks anyway...

Two other possible avenues I thought might work...

If I use the data import wizard and import a list of all the counties in a give state (I get that by dumping them out with the export wizard) with some other data, I can pass the mouse cursor over a pushpin, or anywhere else for that matter, and the extra data along with the county name appears. Is it possible to possition the cursor programatically and retrieve that information.

Another possibility is this... If I double click on the map, a pop-up menu appears that contains the county information. Can I position the cursor and trigger an event to retrieve this pop-up information?
