| I've been writing a free add-on POI Scanner for S&T for a while now and added support for MapPoint 2006 using a trial version recently. Version 1.7.0 can be downloaded at PoiScanner - *POI Scanner for Microsoft*Streets & Trips 2006 to 2008 I've supplied the source code on the web site. I would appreciate it greatly if someone would accept to try it with a North America and European version of MapPoint 2006. I tried it out with the trial version and it works. I'd like to have feedback on it, suggestions, problem reports, etc. I would also like to learn in which format MapPoint Europe saves their maps for another project. For now, I've used the same format as the North America format *.ptm. I suspect they are different since they are different with S&T and AutoRoute. thanks in advance for your help. |

| Re: Need help to test new add-on
Eric I've researched data on the web for MapPoint 2004. From what I can tell, it only has the route planner. The POI Scanner needs the arrow GPS icon in the map to locate itself. Without this data, it can not verify the preset distance between itself and the POI pin. The POi Scanner could be modified to play an alert if a POI enters the map in MapPoint 2004, but it could only be usefull at or near the maximum zoom level of the map. It's usefullness would be greatly crippled. I think it would be best to try only MapPoint 2006 versions. If you want an idea of what it should look like I prepared a video on YouTube of version 1.7.0 this afternoon. I created a GPS icon to simulate the real GPS icon. I find it's simpler to test this way and saves money on gas. You can view the video at YouTube - POI Scanner 1.7 Microsoft Streets & Trips,AutoRoute MapPoint I look forward to your findings. |
