My name is Jeff, and I'm trying to select a suitable mapping product for project I'm starting on. My task is to write a VB program to plot Lat / Long data that is received from an external device, via a serial port, on a street map. If I understand the info from the MS website, it seems that MapPoint should be a perfect product for this.
But I have one concern. The system requirements listed for MapPoint 2009 state that the minimum required display resolution is 1024 x 768. My application needs to run on a new Lenovo S10 "netbook" PC. This is a little XP laptop that should be good for portable use, but the display resolution is only 1024 x 600. The machine seems to run other XP software acceptably. Before purchase, I would like to find out if the lower resolution display would simply be considered less than optimal, or will the product refuse to install because the system does not meet minimum requiements? What do you think?

Thanks
