| Newbie Fail - Please Help I get through the import process, but on my map there are only 2 push pin points (one for each zip code). I can click on the push pin and a list of all the addresses in that zip code comes up. So, I guess it is sorting by zip. I need all of the addresses to show on the map individually. What am I doing wrong? Please help. thx! |

Hi JetStarCourier, Is this via the Data Import Wizard? After you've selected what type the columns will be, the Wizard indicates how it will import your data: By Coordinates By Zip Code By Address etc. It's also possible that your columns are incorrect. What type of file are you importing from (XLS?, CSV?) Mike Mattys Mattys Consulting - Custom Programming |

Hey "Mattys Consulting", Thanks for your reply. I am importing an excel file with the "Import Data Wizard". It is a VERY simple spreadsheet with 5 columns: 1. Address 1 (Street number) 2. Address 2 (Street name) 3. City 4. State 5. Zip I associate the correct value for each column. It imports, but puts all the addresses under the zip codes. I did find out one thing. All of the addresses I have only list the street names. The don't say "street", "lane", "drive", etc. I made a test spreadsheet at put in all the "streets", "lanes" & "drives", etc. and it worked. So, now my question is: Do I have to have all the "streets", "lanes" & "drives", etc. or can I just use the street names? In case I am not clear... My list consists of addresses like: 1240 | Main | Frisco | TX | 75034 and that does not work. But, it does work if I do it like this: 1240 | Main Street| Frisco | TX | 75034 THX! |

Hi - You should concatenate columns 1 and 2. Your results aren't going to be 100% matches, maybe 85%. Mike Mattys |

JetStarCourier: See how much easier it is on a forum than on Twitter! You need the "Street", "Lane", etc because there are often streets with the same main name but differ because they are a road, street, avenue, etc. This is very common in the UK, for example. The need for the number and street to be together is more of a MapPoint peculiarity, although to be fair, it is never going to auto-recognise a number as a street number (it is more likely to be data).
