    Newbie Question - Importing XLS data

    Hi,

    Newbie here.

    Are there any examples out there of importing XLS data into a VB mappoint App.

    All i am trying to do is create an app with the VB control. When i click on a button it will load data (Postalcode and associated numeric data) and then display it on the map.

    I am having a hrad time getting this to work just from the help files. Does anyone have some sample code or a sample project they could share?

    Any help would be great!!!

    Thanks,

    Messier

    You can automate the import from excel procedure.
    If you are using vb.net you can try this. Create a button that fires this code:

    Code:
    Sub ImportFromExcel

            'start new instance of mappoint
            Dim objApp As New MapPoint.Application
            Dim objDataSet As MapPoint.DataSet

            'Set up the application
            objApp.Visible = True
            objApp.UserControl = True

            'Let user create a data map
            'This opens the import wizard.
            'You can then choose an excel file.
            objDataSet = objApp.ActiveMap.DataSets.ShowImportWizard()

            'This just helps demonstrates the example
            Dim oBox As MessageBox
            oBox.Show("Quit", "Quit")

            objApp.Quit()

     End Sub
    You should be able to adapt this.
    Hope this is of some use.
