    Not a Mappoint 2005 file?

    Hi everyone,

i have been programming with Mappoint and visual basic for a while now, and i never encountered this problem!

    Here it is:
    First:
    everything has been initialized correctly

but when i execute this line:
    AxMappointControl1.OpenMap("C:\maps\ottawa.ptm")

it tells me that the file i chose "is NOT a Mappoint 2005 file"

i have Mappoint 2010 NA installed, visual 2008 studio (standard edition)

the SAME EXACT program works fine on certain computers (XP PRO 32bits)

but not on others (same version XP pro 32bits)

    Has anybody encountered this before?

    Thanks for reading me.

    AL

    Got it!

The regional settings in windows were the cause of the problem.

By changing to something else (like French Canadian), the visual basic 2008 could not process any dates,time,numbers,etc...

Simple some might say, but it's the error that was weird!

"NOT a Mappoint 2005 file" go figures!

Thanks for getting back - it will be useful for people in the future.

Yes you'd think MapPoint could handle localization issues - especially an "in-territory" one like this. (MapPoint NA would have less of a need for German than French-Canadian, although perhaps it should support all the western variations)

Or was it a mix of your code and the MapPoint causing the localization issues? I've come across that quite a bit - every time it has been my code that was at fault.
