This is a discussion on Not Reading Addresses . . . within the MapPoint 2006/2009 Discussion forums, part of the Map Forums category; I live (and map) in Washington DC. DC is split into quadrants -- NE, NW, SE, SW. So, it's possible ...

| Because of this, we already split out spreadsheets into pages by quadrant -- so that when the program has a question about *which* "1234 1st St." we want, we can easily know which one we are plotting at that time. Normally this works great, but just today MapPoint has decided that it does not "recognize" any SW addresses. When we go to map them -- instead of 21 separate address points, we get 4 . . . 1 point marked for each of the 4 zipcodes represented. Weird. When I try to remove the zip codes from the spreadsheet -- to "make it" look to the addresses -- I get 1 pinpoint . . . for "Washington, DC". So, that means it then defaults to looking at the "State". And I know I need to keep the "State" on the spreadsheet, or MapPoint will never find it! We are selecting "Location" (our street address column) as the primary key in the Link Data Wizard. Our sheet contains separate columns for "Location"; "Quadrant"; "City", "State" and "Zip" -- which has always worked great. When I pick an address and hand enter it, the program finds it and maps it. Thoughts? |

Hi, Is this done by code, or is this done by importing the data with the wizarts? Something has changed today because of the new "decision" of mappoint. You should try to think what exacly has changed. If it is by code the Altitude has impact on recognizing locations. Changes of decimal separator in the machine can also have unpredictable results. Further no idea at the moment.
