NT Service and MP

Hi all,

I'am currently developing an NT-service (C++) that needs some geo-calculations. I can implement the Mappoint OCX in a program that has a user interface, but my question is if it is possible to use Mappoint without user interface, in fact even without a user logging on to the system. (service uses his own account)

Thanks

Paul,

I know you can set the visible property to false on the control and still control/extract info from MapPoint but I have never tried it from an NT service. I would look over the EULA to make sure you are in complience before you spend too much time developing it.

NT Service

Paul,

It's not possible. I've created a spatial engine with MP2k that is a C++ service running VB clients as Agents. You need the control on a from. Make sure you do not "interact with the desktop" and the form will not display on the screen... and make sure that your service logs in with proper rights.

MP does eat up tons of memory though.

good luck.
