Numbered Pushpins (unique identifier)

I am importing around 500 items into MapPoint from Excel. I have done it different ways with multicolored pushpins for the size of the client, etc. I still have not found a way to, for example, individually number each pushpin to correlate to each item in Excel. The end result I am looking for is a map with small numbers on it (instead of the typical pushpin) and a legend listing the number and the client. I don't mind using the Excel sheet as the legend, but don't know how I can correlate the numbering situation. I have also added a column/field in Excel with a unique number ID then used it as the name in the balloon for each pushpin. However, when I click the "view balloon data" they all overlap too much, and I'm unable to read many of them.

The other thing I have done is import all the pushpins and get MapPoint to do a route planner using all the pushpins, optimizing stops. It then numbers all of the stops with the yellow boxes and lists them in the route planner. I have not, however, found a way to print the list of stops in the route planner without printing all the directions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

Did you choose "Display Name" or Show Information? I've posted some custom pushpins on my website that include numbers that go up to 99 which may or may not help but your welcome to download them and give em a try.
