    numbering route pushpins

    Hi, I'm new to using Mappoint but have some experience mapping. I can do the basics but I need to number the pushpins on a route in time sequence, is there any way I can do that? The data is already in time order so it would really be just putting numbers on the pushpins.
    Also, I am wondering if there is a 'help' file online somewhere?
    Thanks,

    Hi,

    When you add a PushPin , you can associate that pushPin with a picture.
    Mappoint has some pictures ( symbols ) with numbers
    from symbol 208 as (1) to 227 as (20). I think you can go to 50 in some conditions. If you have more than 20, you have to create your own pictures.

    If the number is < 20 you can use this comand :

    ObjMap.AddPushpin(PinLoc)>>symbol = 208 ( or X < 228 )

    If You create your own pictures with a number try to give them name like
    picture_21, picture_X , .... to easily make loops

    and look at Symbols object in the Help File

    MyPicture = Picture_21, ....

    objSymbols = ObjMap.Symbols.Add( MyPicture)
    ObjPin.Symbol = objSymbols.ID

    Also, this forumis very rich, just begin a search with keys like "symbol"

    I hope this can help

    numbering pushpins

    Hi Mohamed, Thanks for your reply. I guess I am trying to find a way to number the pushpins automatically because it will be very slow to do this manually due to the large volume of data I need to map-75-100 routes that each do 50-100 stops per day! I am considering creating an AddIn but I'm not sure how to.
    Thanks,

    Help Material

    If you go into MapPoint 2004 and Select Help then in the Contents way down at the bottom you'll find "Programming Information." A lot of what you want to automate is covered above bu Mohamed but read the sections under "Locations In the MapPoint Object Model." You'll see how write a program to move through your pushpins setting the symbols. There is also a "Microsoft MapPoint Visual Basic Reference" under the same general area in Help.

    As for the web use TechNet.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/mappoint/

    But I find more useful code here in MP2KMag forums.

    Hi,

    If you don't want to add Pushpin Pictures with numbers ( automically of course ), you have another method like the one used by Rainer in www.free-routing.com. You have to get the ObjLoc at the points where you are in the route or where you add small pushpins and insert The Text you want ( numbers for instance ) with this command:

    objMap.Shapes.AddTextbox objLoc, 50, 30
    objMap.Shapes.Item(1).Text = X ( X is variable )

    Regards
