NYC Street addresses

I'm having a problem locating addresses in New York City. Here is an example:

If I'm looking for:

93-39 Francis Lewis Blvd
Queens Village, NY 11428

Notice the dash (-), the 93 gives the intersecting street and to get the specific house number, you use the number after the dash. The only thing I get is an intersection location at 93rd Ave and Francis Lewis Blvd.

MapPoint cannot map these addresses correctly, Yahoo, MapQuest and Google maps seem to find and map the addresse correctly, but even windows live does not map it correctly.

Is there a work around to this problem or this is just a Microsoft issue?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Cool Re: NYC Street addresses

Unfortunately, the underlying MapPoint data does not have that level of detail.

The MapPoint data consists only of street "segments" which contain a low and high address number. It does not contain all valid addresses along the segment. Instead, it interpolates an address number using the distance between the start and end of the segment. For this reason, it will even address numbers which do not actually exist.

This is because the MapPoint data is originally derived from the U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line data, which is in street-segment format.

Nowadays, NavTeq and other geodata vendors are changing this and producing more detailed data. Perhaps the next or some future version of MapPoint will use more detailed street-level data.
