| Palm Pre +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Palm Announces Killer New Phone | | from the j-phone dept. | | posted by kdawson on Friday January 09, @08:53 (Cellphones) | | Slashdot | Palm Announces Killer New Phone | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ [0]Barence writes "At CES, Palm announced what promises to be the product that finally [1]matches and even betters the Apple iPhone, and certainly looks to be the most important product announced at this year's Consumer Electronics Show. It's called the Palm Pre and it's based on a completely new operating system, called Palm webOS. Its key specs include a 3.1in 320x 480 touchscreen, 8GB of storage, UMTS HDSPA support (in the UK version of the phone), 802.11b/g WLAN, Bluetooth, and GPS. It also includes a slide-out Qwerty keyboard, 3.5mm headphone jack, and what Palm described as the 'fastest ever' Texas Instruments OMAP processor."

| Zero Hour Palm Pre Review
I think I am going to have to scheme to switch phones with my wife when she gets this... Palm gets back into the game with touchscreen Pre, WebOS : Ben Patterson : Yahoo! Tech Shouldn't an aspiring real estate agent have (my old) Blackberry instead of this Palm? Eric

She should, lol. Eric, I'm the opposite of you, though. I just want as simple a phone as possible. I used a PDA phone for a few years, but I no longer desire a phone running on Windows Mobile operating system. I no longer need all the many features phones of today offer. I really want a single-purpose device: a telephone. I use my small laptop for everything else. However, there no longer seems to be a telephone that doesn't do all the other features, so I will forever have to deal with accidentally pressing the wrong button and accidentally turning on something that I don't want, ... I'd pay big bucks for a phone that has no camera, no Internet access, no mp3 player, no unnecessary features ...
