Patterns

Hopefullly a simple question, but I haven't been able to figure it out. I've import data into a map of Japan, so I now have five discrete colors on the map. Works great in color--reds are an increase, white no change, and blues a loss. However, when I print in b/w, red and blue look the same. Is there any way to fill not with color but with a pattern (cross-hatch, dots, etc.)?
