I have mapped a number of items using post code, but have found MapPoint is unable to map some of these, as it does not recognise the post codes. I have checked the post codes are correct with the post office. Is there a way of updating MapPoints data?

You have an excellent question! Unfortunately, I don't have a solution, but I'd also like to know if someone else does. I spoke with MS tech support early in the year about some mechanism to update MP's internal postal code database, but got the "we'll submit your request to R&D for consideration in a future release". As many other mapping programs of the past allowed for this type of dynamic updating, I'm not sure why MS won't address this issue. Since we use MP to dynamically map caller locations at our call center, it's a necessity to keep the postal code lookup as current as possible. This is especally true considering how often postal code areas are redefined by the USPS! Anyone else have any input?

We use alternative software for postcode/address lookup (such as QuickAddress or AFD) - then do all the plotting in MapPoint using lat/longs.

We find this is also quicker - but sometimes less accurate as the lower end postcode/location conversion software (such as AFD) only have 100m accuracy on postcodes.

I am glad I am not alone in my thoughts/hopes!

We also need to plot locations using from our Call Centre, but not 100m accuracy would suffice for us - we simply need to find the nearest garage for vehicle repair.

I notice the mention of QAS. We use this extensively within our application but had not realised that this could be used with MapPoint. Any chance of emlightening me as to the method you use? We simply need a list of (200) addresses plotted on the map at all times (currently 5% fail to display). If there is a way to use QAS I would be very interested to hear.

I'd also be interested to hear this solution with QAS as we use the same system.
