Can anyone help?

I need to be able to draw around postcode boundaries at the district level, eg LS10, HU14 etc.

I've been looking around and I have no idea how to do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Postcode Boundaries

Hi John

When you say you want to "draw around postcode boundaries" I'm not 100% sure what you mean. Do you want to include postcode district boundaries in a virtual earth application? If so, how many postcode districts?

Re: Postcode Boundaries

I want to display a map in mappoint or on the maps.live.net or even on google maps, I don't care which really but would prefer it in mappoint, the area a postcode occupies. If I put LS1, HU14, LN28 etc into mappoint, I get a point on the map, somewhere near the centre of the postcode. If I display HU10 and HU11, I get two points. I don't want a point. I want to see the area these postcodes occupy. I want some kind of shading or a polygon drawing on the map. I can handle the drawing, but I can't seem to get the data I need.

There must be a way to use the postcode to get the data I need.

Re: Postcode Boundaries

If you’re using the MapPoint package and have excel data like

HU10
HU11

… use the Import Data Wizard and make sure it’s matching to postcode districts. Then on the next panel that comes up choose shaded areas and the resulting map will show the postcode district boundaries. If you just want to display the boundaries use a dummy data value that’s the same for all districts. If you want to do this nationally you’re probably best using the Data Mapping Wizard. Using polygons in Virtual Earth is a lot more involved so I’d definitely stick with MapPoint.

I’m probably missing something here so do let me know. Are you using the mapPoint web service?
