Print to PDF

I'm trying to print a map to PDF for easy electronic distrubution. However, when I open the PDF file, the map is very 'fuzzy' It's a map of North america, and you can barely make out state lines and you can't read state names at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Is the PDF driver set to resize the image? Make sure it is not changing the size or resolution of the map image.

If that does not work, I would recommend doing a screenshot image or Save As HTML and pull out the image, then incorporate it into Word or whatever will do your page layout before printing to PDF.

Print to PDF

I just had the same problem and found a workaround. There may be a much easier way to get good final PDF quality, but at least this works. It's my first day using Mappoint and I already have a nice set of client location maps.

I created the maps in mappoint, then before printing, I changed the windows video resolution to 2048 x 1536. (Right-click on the desktop, select Properties, then Settings.) In Acrobat, I set the print resolution to 300 instead of screen res. After creating the PDFs, I changed the resolution back to normal and merged the various maps into a single PDF file and added bookmarks. The resulting maps look great!

If anyone knows an easier way, I'd like to hear it.

Easier way to good PDFs

After experimenting a bit more I realized that I didn't need to change video resolution. I started doing that to try and make larger format maps.

So to get better quality in your printed map, here's all it takes. Select File, Print then change these settings...
- Set Acrobat printer resolution to either 300 dpi or 600 dpi. 600 dpi is slightly better but makes a huge print file.
- Set map quality to Presentation.

You probably were printing to screen resolution, or at normal quality.
