There have been a few posts addressing printing maps on a plotter, but none have really helped me.

I print to an HP DesignJet 450c. The maps I print are of territories that span a 65 mile radius. I know that when the map of a territory of that size is displayed on-screen, only major highways are displayed. However, when printed to the plotter, it only prints what is displayed on-screen, so there are large empty gaps between highways with no roads. This defeats the purpose of blowing up a large territorial map.

Is there any way that a large territory can be printed to a plotter with street level detail?

Anonymous - did you ever get any replies or other help to address this question? I am fighting the same issue -- trying to plot a street-level map of a large area (> 65 miles), and only getting the major highways visible. I've been looking everywhere for a solution to no avail.

What version of MapPoint are you using? MS added a "Map Settings" pane in MapPoint 2010 that let's you increase the level of detail for many layers -- or turn them off completely. Have you already tried that?

I am using MapPoint 2010, and The map settings pane does a nice job of including the surface streets -- Thank you!

Now, when viewing the entire desired map area on the screen, the streets show, but majority of street names do not. I'm not seeing any settings to force those to show -- and I'm guessing that if they did, the names would obliterate the map when viewing the large area on screen.

Ideally, it would be good to designate a "print area" that includes the full area to be plotted, and then zoom in to the level that shows the streets and names properly - then print to pdf. If you've had experience resolving this -- I sure appreciate your help!
