Printing an Oversized Legend separately (or in total).

How can I print the Legend only? I am using MapPoint 2004 in a professional capacity with legend items ranging over 200 in some instances.

Is there any way to pull the Colors & Legend IDs out of the program and into another program (such as Excel or PowerPoint)?

Can I make multiple columns of Legend data to fit more than 20-40 as I can now?

As of now I can get it to print a portion of labels, and even on a separate sheet of paper. My need is to extract and manipulate the order of Legend Items.

Any takers?

I recommend that you keep all dataset icons in an Excel spreadsheet.
This is done by choosing Insert ... Picture ... From File ( which can also be automated for an entire directory of icons). You can then print it.

This can also be combined with a map ...

Legends

Thanks for the response!

I see where you're going with that. Is the Legend (red & yellow) just a text box or did you import the map into another program/import the legend from another program?

Also, I forgot to mention that I'm working with Territory maps specificially, plotting Demographic Market Areas by Zip Code. There are hundreds of Markets that are being graphed, and I'm having repeated color problems as part of the problem, that I can only choose 1 of the 50 colors that MapPoint has as a default color for a territory. Tthe actual problem being that I can't print a separate sheet that lists EVERY Market Area (New York, New England, Chicago, etc) for my Legend!

I can use the previous response for pushpin/multiple symbols - which will be useful in my next step - but I can't seem to solve the initial problem.

Chad,

I use a combination of Excel and Irfanview for most things related
to custom legends. Otherwise, everthing else is custom programming.

Anything you can put into MapPoint, I can capture. Afterward, I would
re-color the resulting Tif of 32-bit bmp if necessary.

I'd be happy to work with you on your project, if you'd like to contact me.
