    Problem with importing intersections MP2006

    I use MapPoint 2006 to import Excel datasets that consist of address and intersections, placing a pushpin on the map for each. Following are examples of each format:

    "1000 Main St, Cincinnati, OH"

    "Main St & Court St, Cincinnati, OH"

    There is no problem with matching street addresses. But, when an intersection is used instead, the software places the pushpin on the city, not the intersection within that city.

    From reading some of the older posts on this forum, I realize that MapPoint uses only one of three methods for matching addresses. My formatting is correct, as it works just fine using the "Find" box within the software.

    This is probably an easy fix for most, however, I have no experience with Visual Basic, and despite my best efforts with Visual Basic 2008, nothing works.

    Two questions:

    1. Do I need to create an add-in using VBA to have MapPoint correctly match the intersection?

    2. Does MapPoint 2010 import and match intersections better than 2006?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Re: Problem with importing intersections MP2006

    #1 might be the solution as there are a number of "Find" calls - eg. "FindAddress" (which expects a parsed address - and is probably being used by the Data Import Wizard), but the more general Find is probably going to work like the search box.

    Re: Problem with importing intersections MP2006

    Thanks for the response.

    So, I need to create a plug-in, using Visual Basic 6, I think.

    I found this code in an earlier thread relating to MP 2004 (user with a similar problem with intersection import):

    Private Sub stop_Click()
    Dim objMap As MapPoint.Map
    Set objMap = Forms!MAPform.MAP.ActiveMap
    Dim objloc As MapPoint.Location
    Dim addy As String
    addy = Forms!csgmAP.addys

    Set objloc = objMap.FindResults(Forms!MAPform.addys).Item(1)
    objMap.ActiveRoute.Waypoints.Add objloc
    'objloc.Goto

    Do you think that this code is valid with MP 2006 (or 2010 if we upgrade)? If so, where can I find a copy of Visual Basic 6 to try and compile it?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Steve
