Hi, when I try to open any excel file I get "there was a problem opening filename.xls".

Strange that software and importing was working fine. I have used old files already working but I cannot solve the problem.

Reistalled several times but no success. Microsoft troubleshooting with MDAC reinstallation didn't work.

Reinstalled on other PC and working fine.

So it is MY PC! Any idea where I should look to find the problem?

Hi, I got a similar problem while opening csv files (file has wrong format) and the resolution was to re-register the jet-engine-files (in system32):

regsvr32.exe Msexcl40.dll

Hi,

When opening *.csv files be sure they are having the delimiters as set by the locales on the machine where mappoint is executing. I dont know if *.xls has something to do with it, but if they are containing datetime fields, or float numbers then it sure is the same to check.
