prog hangs on startup
just installed Mappoint on Win XP Home Ed., and the program keeps hanging every time I start it up... any idea on fixes? Any advice would be appreciated...

i had what sounds like the same problem and tracked it down to my default printer assignment, as wacky as that sounds.

my default printer was on a virtual port (on another computer in my network) that was only available when that other computer was on. whenever that other computer was off, MapPoint crashed on opening.

i fixed the problem by setting a (non-functioning) local printer as my default.

MapPoint 2002 hangs on start up
I've also had problem with MapPoint 2002 hanging when I start up on both Win 2000 SP2 and WinXP machines. I've tried uninstalling all my printer with no luck. Any suggestions?

Yep, that fixed it for me....
Set my default printer to the PDF writer and poof, no more hanging.

Reinstalled normal printer after that and all is well again.
HP printer btw.
