I have "Programming mappoint in .net" book ... i've come to a point where i'd like to integrate my USB GPS hardware into mappoint, however the sample code provided to add this integration is not compiling properly.

I think this issue is due to using .NET 2.0 .... I was just wondering if there's a way around this? Perhaps using something like AGPS to do capture and translate the GPS sentencing to mappoint??

Hi,

You have to parse the NMEA strings from the GPS receiver to get the geocoordinates and other info you need. When that is done you can add or move a pushpin to the map with exact location and coordinates.

Please tell wher you have difficulties with and all of us try to help.

I think the book describes direct NMEA parsing, doesn't it? I haven't read that bit in detail, but I noticed it yesterday when I was looking up the event trapping in C#.

I need some books / articles related to mappoint implemented in java .

You will need a "COM bridge". There are a number around, including some open source ones. This will let you call a COM API from Java. Examples often show Java calling Word or Excel - that is probably worth cribbing.

Once you have COM working, then the help files, "MapPoint.NET" book, and the articles on this site should make sense.
