Programming using excel VBA... No GPS

I was hoping someone could help me out. I made a program in Excel vba that opens up a mappoint map and converts location data and puts pushpins at that location. I need to find a way to track my position in the mappoint map I opened with excel. If I go to the GPS menu all of the selections are greyed out, but if I open up a new mappoint outside of excel I can track my position. I'm assuming this is due to the gps add-ins not being initialized when I open a new map trough excel, but I dont know what to do to fix the problem. I have searched the fourms and people have had this problem before, but no one seemed to find a soultion to this, just found another way of doing what they needed done.

If anyone can help me out I would be very thankful!

Re: Programming using excel VBA... No GPS

KUSTEVO,

We need to insert maps into an excel document using an address & zip code. We need picture of the location (location marked & Centered in map) with a one mile radius and another map with a five mile radius.
We also need to convert the Address into a Longitude & Latitude GPS coordinates.
We would like a copy of your program.

We are in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Re: Programming using excel VBA... No GPS

mrgcav,

I created a program that I named MapSnap which:
- runs through a jet database (can change to Excel)
- locates, geocodes, and adds a pushpin for each record
- save a picture based upon your chosen specs.

Mattys Consulting,
Mapsnap, Sounds much like what I am after.
We do deliveries based upon address and zip code and need to generate maps for those deliveries.
Could an excel macro be created ?
I could not find your website

Re: Programming using excel VBA... No GPS

For those interested in leveraging Excel and/or VBA with MapPoint, I have a new reference out titled "Excel Basics to Blackbelt" (Cambridge Press 2008 ). Lot's of tricks to make use of. I've made a number of applications that integrate MapPoint with other apps through Excel and VBA as well.
Here's a video link to a redux of a Webinar I gave for both Palisades and Cox Communication recently:

To all, Please note... we have little programming experience and require a ready made solution.
