Push Pin Help

Hi All

I am currently adding pushpins to the map with

objPin.BalloonState = MapPoint.GeoBalloonState.geoDisplayName

I like the way it displays the positions with the name next to it but i want to remove the X in the corner so you cannot close the comment

Is this possiable and if it is how

Thanks

Colin

AddTextbox

I'm sure there's no way to remove the X, it is just not in the object model.

One thing you might try to use labels at the location to show the text - AddTextbox method

from the Help file:

-- Text boxes are a fixed size on the screen as the map is zoomed in and out. If you want a shape that covers a fixed area of the globe, use the AddShape method on a Shapes collection to create a rectangle.
-- To return or set the text displayed in a text box, use the Text property of a Shape object.
-- To learn more about drawing shapes on maps, see the About using shapes in MapPoint topic.

The first tip about creating a label that is a fixed area on the globe might be useful.

How many cars do you have, could you use a custom icon with the car name or id? You might have to create tons of different icons.

Or -- if you says have a three digit or character code, you could have two offset icons on either side like

A B C

where A is offset to the left, B is on the center, and C is offset to the right.

Why doesn't a label work? Note that you can color-coded borders on the labels if that helps to depict your information.

Of course I don't know your application to suggest what is best, but hopefully some of this will be useful ideas to explore, good luck!
