    Recordet operation speed

Currently I have a program that proocesses over 40K pushpins. I want to know if I port the application as a mappoint "add-in" if the recordset processing will be any faster?

    Thanks,
    Chris

In theory yes, although I don't have any benchmarks to back this up.

If you're accessing MapPoint from an external program, there's a lot of inter-thread overhead in the COM interface.

Add-ins are executed "in-thread" so you lose this overhead.

Recordsets seem to require a lot of interaction, so I'm guessing there's lots of potential gains to be had.

One of my MileCharter users (an add-in that does a lot of batch work) reports that it runs "a bit faster" than a similar custom external program that I wrote for him. Not very scientific I'm afraid. My own experience is that the two take the same order of magnitude of time.
Much of the time is in MapPoint's routing though, rather than database manipulation via lots of API calls.

this data is already mapped, and the zones I'm checking are pre-mapped. I'll give it a try and let you guys know how the speed increase handles out.
