Registry settings not copied properly...What?

MapPoint 2002 was working just fine on my XP system until recently, when --for some inexplicable reason -- I received this error message: "Your registry settigns for this application were not copied properly. To correct these settings, run Setup again for this application from the location where you originally installed it."

I tried that without success. Then I reinstalled the program from the original CD, but the same message reappeared.

Anyone know what this is all about?

Re: Registry settings not copied properly...What?

Six year old post, with no replies, ironically this is the exact problem that sent me searching through this forum today. I recently swicthed from Sreets & Trips 2006 to Mappoint 2009, and even though I have uninstalled S&T the 3rd party program that is linked to Mappoint gives me the same registry error. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling in every configuartion with no luck.

Re: Registry settings not copied properly...What?

Does MapPoint work without the third party application?

(it might be the third party program that is producing your error)

Re: Registry settings not copied properly...What?

I was having the same problem and got here too. Had not been finding any answers. I ended up opening the Mappoint folder in "Program Files" right click the Mappoint exe and opened as administrator and it worked. Still trying to figure out how we can open it without using this method.

Re: Registry settings not copied properly...What?

The following Microsoft KB article talks about this topic: Error message when you try to use Streets & Trips 2008: "Your registry settings for this application were not copied correctly"
