Smile remembering print setup options

Hello all,

Perhaps someone has the solution?

to save on ink, paper, and time, I print most of my maps in landscape and fast draft. I have to manually change these settings everytime I print, not just everytime I open a saved ptm file.

My printer options are default to fast draft, but Mappoint defaults to Normal and not draft. Where and how can I make these changes permanent within Mappoint?

Your thoughts, comments, ideas, and suggestions are most welcome.

-Jeremy

Hi,

I assume you mean the mappoint standalone application. If that the case then it probably follow the default settings in your system. Notingh to change on it as far as I know (maybe seek a little in registry ? you never know...).

If you have your own application using mappoint then you can eventually save all these settings yourself.

Hi Jeremy,

What version of MapPoint are you using? 2002,2004,2006 ? I have not heard of this difficulty before.

Hi Jeremy,

I just tryed mappoint 2004 standalone, and printer settings are saved during the lifetime of the application, but not preserved after closing it.

Sometimes I have the same problem within Access. I need special print settings for let's say a custom label. The solution that has worked for me is using the sendkeys function. I manuall (behind the scene) change the print settings prior to printing each document. Sendkeys is not the most stable function but it has saved me hours.

Sorry I dont think it is possible. Could be there is a windows registry setting that set the default by application, but dont know and it will be a long search

Hi,

But sendKeys is a dotNet class. Do you mean external program to set the settings ?

Can the setting be saved in a ptm? Then maybe you just need to replace the default map ptm under program files?
