Remove copyright info from printed maps

When creating maps for presentations, I find it unprofessional looking to have all that text printed at the bottom of the page.

It is possible to do this now (in part). If you save as a web page in a specified folder and then go into the sub folder that is created. There is a map jpeg that does not have all the details. I have been using this for presentations.

Hope it helps!

Re: Remove copyright info from printed maps

I am using:

oMap.SavedWebPages.Add(path & "test", Nothing, Nothing, True, False, False, 148, 148, False, False, False, False)

to save the map as a .gif. BUt I dont see any additional folders with a clean .jpg. I just get a small map named "image_map.gif" filled with copyright text.

How exactly are you saving your map?

Re: Remove copyright info from printed maps

I think removing the copyright message is against the EULA.

There are reasons for copyright messages - as there are for books and movies.

Re: Remove copyright info from printed maps

Of course Richard....I understand the copyright/EULA issues. I just want to clarify here that the only reason I responded was to learn how the poster was able to create .jpg images instead of the the "normal" .gif images that are saved.

I have NO INTEREST AT ALL in removing the copyright notices.

Re: Remove copyright info from printed maps

Just for clarity Ox: My post was intended for the original poster who wanted to remove the messages.

Re: Remove copyright info from printed maps

Yes, I find this copyright message annoying as well. I have nothing against copyright messages and Microsoft has every right to display one on the maps but when the copyright message is right on the map and it covers 20% of a 600x400 map, it becomes stupid and makes the map useless. I realize they want to keep it on the map to make sure people don't crop it but it is really obtrusive. It's kind of like listening to a music CD where the singer speaks a copyright message every 20 seconds or so. I hope they change it in the next version. Just a suggestion.

I agree with this. It is obtrusive and detracts from the visual impact of maps. Also if you save a map as a web page you get the copyright info on the bottom of the map as usual and then repeatd verbatim with an active hyperlink underneath the map.

Re: Remove copyright info from printed maps

I have the same issue. Mappoint is great but very useless from a managment standpint when you want to embed an object into Excel. I anm trying to create a dashboard for my sales force that is interactive with Excel. This is pretty much impossible as the copy right information covers the entire map.

Anyone from Microsoft that can help? Any realtime chat I could access?
