Hi

We trying to find a way of retrieving the distance covered in each US state from a Route.

Is there an easy way to do this?

I was hoping to be able to use the StreetAddress of the Location returned in Directions, but all I get is an error. The only other solution I have been able to come up with so far is to look at the Instruction field for "Entering <State>", but this doesnt give me a solution for returning the initial state and relies on you crossing a state line.

You could get the initial state by looking at the Points of Interest or Places in MapPoint.

You could turn on all Places and then do a Find Nearby Places, and see which state it is in...

To do this programmatically I'd point to a couple resources

Export "Places" from MapPoint 2010 to Access

The latter is in the MapForums Downloads section so costs $19.95 to gain access, but it includes working source code.

Then using the Entering State in the directions you would have everything you need, right?
