S&T 2006 maps with MapPoint 2004 - Extra Place Categorie

I am currently using the map data from Streets & Trips 2006 within MapPoint 2004. I have no direct problems with the maps, and I even figured out how to make it so I can update the Highway Construction information directly from within MapPoint, instead of having to do it manually.

However, I am running into a small quirk.

Streets & Trips 2006 supports a few more (and some different) Place Categories than MapPoint 2004 does (such as Parking, Golf Courses, Wineries, etc...). And therein lies the problem. Those extra categories don't show up in MapPoint under "Show or Hide Places", and therefore, I can't turn them off.

I traced where Streets & Trips stores this configuration information, which is in the Registry at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Automap\13.0 \USA\Features_USA".

For example:

Streets & Trips 2006 - View "Parking" category

"Features_USA"=hex:00,80,00,80,00,00,00,00,00,80,0 0,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00,80,00,00,00,80,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,80,00 ,80,00,00,00,80,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,80,00,00,00,80,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,80,00,00

Streets & Trips 2006 - Hide "Parking" category

"Features_USA"=hex:00,80,00,80,00,00,00,00,00,80,0 0,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00,80,00,00,00,80,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,80,00 ,80,00,00,00,80,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,80,00,00,00,80,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00

The change is in the last line, third from the end.

If you compare these to the MapPoint key...

MapPoint 2004

"Features_USA"=hex:00,80,00,80,00,00,00,00,00,00,0 0,80,00,80,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00,80,00,80,00,00,00,80,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,80,00,00,00,80,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,80,00,80,00,00,00 ,80,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00

...you'll see that it's shorter by a few entries.

I've tried overwriting the MapPoint "Features_USA" value with the Streets and Trips one, but that doesn't do it.

I don't know if I just didn't go far enough, or if there is another option for hiding those extra categories (or making them show up in MapPoint's list), but if anyone can provide any assistance, it would be appreciated.

Just an FYI, MapPoint 2006 seems to be coming out real soon, I don't want to say just exactly when or I might have to silence you, but on the other hand Microsoft's web site says in May which is more than I know to say publically.

If your application can perhaps just wait until May that will be your easy solution?

If I have to, I'll wait. But in case anyone happened to know how this could be accomplished, I thought it was worthwhile to ask.
