    I experienced this same error with vb.net and MP 2010 ... the only way I could stop it was to trap the entire ExportGPX control ... something I didn't really like to do ...

    When you first open Mappoint after a new installation a box appears asking if you want to register ... along with a checkbox not to show the message again ... this stopped the execution of my program...

    When I moved to Server 2008 I found that each user had to open the stand-alone MapPoint and get rid of the registration messages before the ActiveX component would work ...
