showing as webmap

Hi,

i know i can set my map as a web page but how do i get it close up but be able to scoll through the whole of the UK, when i zoom in and save as web it only shows you the section you have zoomed in on.

and other question, when saving as web i'm not able to select any of my pins to show me the info within them, is there a way of doing this?

Re: showing as webmap

i have developed my map with pushpins, etc. i want to publish it to my companies intranet so the sales team can look at it without having to install mappoint.

I have saved the map as a webpage but the only view i get is the section i was looking at on mappoint e.g if i was looking at london boroughs this is all that is displayed on web page! where i want the whole uk to be displayed but so that i can see county boundaries, kind of a zoomed in view, does this make it any clearer?

the other question was that although saving the map as a web page displays the pushpins, i am unable to select the informaiton contained within them. is there a way of displaying these without opening them all before i save?

Sorry about all these questions

stewart

Re: showing as webmap

Hi again Stewart

I think you’d have to use the MapPoint Web Service as opposed to the MapPoint package to do what you describe. I imagine it would be a very very neat solution for this kind of business application but the downside is that you’d have to pay service fees. Alternatively you could set up a separate MapPoint webpage for each territory on your intranet, suitably indexed, with either the information boxes all open or with the pushpins numbered for cross-reference with a table that could be opened alongside.

Anyway, hope this helps

David

Stewart,

Have you considered super-large captures to pdf?
You could have an image-map to click for closer viewing, etc ...

Re: showing as webmap

Hi Mike,

I have tried it with .pdf and the boss doesnt like it haha, i have done it in excel and he likes it for some reason.

Only problem i now face is that importing it as a object on my pc works (i have mappoint installed) and lets me zoom in/out select pushpins etc. I have copied the excel page over to my virtual pc (no mappoint) and it wont let me do anything, i have installed activex controls because i though this might work but it hasn't any ideas on what i can do to get this working without installing mappoint or vb on every pc?

Re: showing as webmap

Stewart,

I'll assume you mean the pdfs that I make.

Eh, well, your boss needs to know that you can't do do any of what you propose (zoom/select/etc) without either installing MapPoint on each machine or subscribing to MapPoint Web Service.
