I have no idea how to use MapPoint 2009 and have an eval copy of it. Can you all lead me in the right direction to find a good free online tutorial that will teach me some of the basics. We are trying to use mappoint to break down Oklahoma by county then in each county place information about local DHS nurses in that county. Maybe map where the nurse lives and general info about that nurse. The idea is that when we have an emergency in a certain part of the state we can reference this map to see just who may be in that area that could tend to the emergency if it happened. We would like this information to be dynamically updated as we updated our database of nurses as they change sometimes frequently. Is MapPoint even something I want to look at or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi ilnman,

This is the right tree!
You want to make a linked dataset from Excel that will update when you add or remove rows.
All you need are the right columns and the Link Data Wizard.

I'd recommend the Tutorials in the Help file -- they are pretty detailed and show how to do a lot of different things with MapPoint. The sample files are included when you install MapPoint.

Also, there is a book "MapPoint for Dummies". I'd recommend the Help File tutorials first though, the book is kind of long and probably has way too much detail to help you get started quickly. OTOH, it has a lot more examples and goes into a lot more depth than the tutorials :-).
