"One example of [Maneesh Agrawala's] work can be seen on Microsoft’s MapPoint Web site, which uses LineDrive technology to display a map with a sequence of turning points, rather than one with extraneous details, drawn to a fixed scale. LineDrive looks more like a hand-drawn map, which is easier to use, said Agrawala, adding that the sequence of turning points is an online map’s most important function."

I think Microsoft aquired LineDrive from MapBlast! - or at least that's what I remember Dylan Vance telling me. Then it looks like Maneesh Agrawala moved over to Microsoft Research for four years.

Speaking of MapBlast, the mapblast.com domain now redirects to
http://www.bing.com/maps/
as does
maps.msn.com
maps.live.com
www.mappoint.com
and probably a dozen or more other domains.

I think it would be interesting to see the stats on which domains are getting the most traffic over to Bing Maps!
