My name is David Griffiths and I am interested in mapping unemployment data at the smallest geographical unit possible, which happens to be Lower Level Super Output Areas in England & Wales and DataZones in Scotland. Has anyone any experience of doing this in Mappoint 2009? Given that these units of geography which will be unchanging and for which the government publish a wide variety of statistics are then any plans to include these boundaries within the Mappoint?

The easiest way to plot LSOA data in MapPoint is to use the centroids, the co-ordinates of which can be obtained from the ONS. You can then plot symbols reflecting the data, eg gradated coloured dots, proportional circles etc. If you need to use the LSOA boundaries for mapping and visualisation then realistically MapPoint 2009 isnít the right package for you and I would have thought there is zero likelihood that such a detailed geography would ever be included. If youíd like to see an example of a centroid map based on LSOAs then pm me or contact me via my email and Iíll send you one.
