Utility to move pushpins to correct side of street

Hi all,

When you import address lists, MapPoint 2k2 seems to place the pushpins in the middle of the street rather than offsetting them to one side, so I developed a utility that will loop through a set of points and automatically adjust them to the correct side of the street.

It works well for North America and I presume it would do the same in any country that uses an odd-even street addressing scheme.

I'm thinking of polishing up the user interface and marketing it. If the members of this forum would be so kind as to participate in a mini survey, I was wondering how many people might be interested in the utility if it were priced in the $50 range. ….no obligation is implied, I am just looking for a “show of hands” to gage if it is worth proceeding.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Chris

Nice exercise but I am not sure how accurate or how important it would be for most applications. I don't need it enough to pay for it.

Hi,

I can test it for you in some places in Belgium if you wants this. As for the survey, I'm not interested as I use mappoint mostly for vehicle location. If I use it for customers then it is often on industrial terrains and then the house numbers are not on the correct place in mappoint. But as it is always with software, you have to find the right customers, and sometime it is surprising :)

Chris:

How do you determine the orientation (and counting direction) of the street?

mbrady: I suspect we can't: the original post was by an anonymous poster 5 years ago!
