View Full Version : Map Point 2010 select tool missing

I have upgraded from MapPoint 2006 to MP 2010. It seems the select tool, that lets me select a rectangle area and zoom to it, or shade it in (while in territories) or export the data for just the selected points to excel is missing. When I looked into help, there is some code for changing the DragProperty:

DragBehavior property
Returns or sets the action that results from the user dragging the mouse pointer across the map. Read/write GeoDragBehavior.

geoDragBox value 2 Creates a rectangular selection area on the map
geoDragHand value 1 Shifts the map
geoDragNone value 0 No action

Applies to Objects: Map

Syntax object.DragBehavior

Parameters Part Description

Required. An expression that returns a Map object.

Sub ChangeDragBehavior()
Dim objApp As New MapPoint.Application

'Set up the application
objApp.Visible = True
objApp.UserControl = True

'Change drag behavior to hand so map can be moved (instead of pan)
objApp.ActiveMap.DragBehavior = geoDragHand

End Sub

I can't figure out how to change this DragBehavior from a value of 1 to 2, which I'd prefer if I can only have one choice. Has anyone else figured this out? I can't even find anyone else who is missing this valuable function in MapPoint 2010.

The two zoom modes (drag/pan and zoom window) are now on the same button: Try using the right mouse button to draw a zoom box. The functionality is still there just it isn't obvious it has been moved (it is probably in the docs, but none of us read those - we'd fall asleep thinking it was all the same as before)

Fantastic! I never found any mention of right clicking - the docs appear to be the same instructions/tutorial as in previous versions. But this is wonderful, now I can upgrade to MP2010.
