Hello, I am brand new at this site. Just joined moments ago. Is it possible to show fewer cities and towns on a map and not rely soley on the Zoom level?

Try MapPoint 2010 - it has much better control of the map features that are shown - so you can (for example) just choose the large cities.

Also setting the font size influences the cities that appear.

I have MP 2009, but have used 2006 and 2002 before and thought that, in one of those versions, I could tell it to only show certain size cities/towns. I just tried the font size and it really had limited effect except to make it more cluttered.

Try the 2010 demo. It is still "big brush" stuff (ie. you can't choose the display on a city by city basis) but should help.

Neither 2002 or 2006 had that feature, it was added with MapPoint 2010
