View Full Version : How to lock a territory

07-01-2010, 07:31 PM
We currently use MapPoint to define by zip codes the territories we sell to our franchisees, the zip codes used to define a territory are adjacent to each other. However we do not know how to lock a territory after it has been created, therefore the user mapping can by mistake take someone elses code.

Any Help is appreciated.

You definately need a database to maintain service areas and also use PDF's.
The management should be centralized.
We provide these services.

We are currently using the 2004 version of MapPoint to map all of our territories, however we are looking for an expert on the latest version of MapPoint to maximize the use of our data.
1) We load a series of Postal codes with City, and State as well as Total business count and Required Marketing prospects. This list is updated every quarter or more often if needed.
2) We have a series of territories already mapped with MP 2004, the need to be mapped with MP 2010
3) We need the ability for one user (keeper of master files) to be able to makes changes to pre-defines/locked territories, as needed
4)Need the ability to Lock maps ( territories)
5)We need a centralized DB and security associated with it. so One user will be the master keeper and other can view the data create a map, but not save it.
6) We need to have the ability to show a warning when you are mapping over an existing territory.

We know there is a new SQL plugin just released for MP and we are interested in using it.
Our computer clients run Windows XP and windows 7.

IMPORTANT: If there is another mapping software more appealing to our needs we are interested in knowing.
