View Full Version : Can Mappoint recognize single numbers (ie. 300) as a relative VALUE rather than a data point?

Hi

I have used mappoint a little before. mostly, I created territories and mapped points of data using zip codes. However, I always had one row for each data point in excel.

Is there a way of getting mappoint to recognize a number as a value? For example, I have a list of U.S. counties and a number (representign # of insurance policies) next to each county. I don't have a row representing each policy, however. Is there a way for mappoint to recognize each # as a relative value to all the numbers and map the density/pins, etc?

Thanks!!:angel2:

Not totally sure I follow, maybe you can post a sample spreadsheet?

Also, describe what Map Type you are using (shaded area, sized circles, etc.)

Thanks!
Eric

Hi!

Thanks for your help.
My file is attached. I'd just like mappoint to recognize the "Total Policies" as data points. For my end product, i'd like to see which counties in the US have the most/least/medium amount of policies so I can make some sales territories.

As for map type-- I can use anything. I'd prefer pins or shaded area that can get increasingly darker/lighter based on volume.

Use the Data Mapping Wizard, your own data, shaded area map.
The wizard makes this very easy. Make sure Total Policies maps to Other Data. Come back if you still have problems or contact us off-line.

What he said, but you might want to separate County and State first, not sure how well it will do with them combined, but probably not very well?
