Hello all. My husband delivers coffee and his employer doesn't organize his deliveries in any order. He manually must plus in addresses one at a time into his GPS AFTER he's organized the route slips by town. He would love to just be able to plug in all addresses & cities and let the GPS or his home computer put the route in order for the best use of his delivery time. Is there a software out there we could purcchase for him to do this?

MapPoint would help with this, you would set up your list in Excel (or a text file) and then import it.. MapPoint has an OPTIMIZE stop function which would set them up in order.

It's not perfect, but I'm sure it would be a big improvement with little effort.

Wow, maybe you should get your husband MAPPOINT for Christmas. That might be a first.

A little customization often helps as MapPoint has a full programming API and everything can be automated, but it's not necessary for the basic import/optimization process.

hope this helps!

Wow I saw this post was familiar and wondered if there was some hiccup in the forum software or hosting server, but I see you actually posted twice and I replied twice :donatello: ;-)

We have some software called CDXZipStream you may want to try - it runs in Microsoft Excel on a PC and works in conjunction with MapPoint. Just enter a list of addresses in an Excel file, click a button, and the addresses are re-ordered into an optimized route. Click another button, and the optimized route is sent to a file that can be downloaded to a GPS; manual entry of addresses to the GPS is not necessary. If you would like to see how it works, there's a short YouTube tutorial here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1_WUs-EyZI). You can also download the Excel file (called a "template") here (http://www.cdxtech.com/cdxzipstream/Links.aspx). Since it works with free trials of both CDXZipStream and MapPoint, you can try it for 30 days before you decide to purchase. Hope this helps!
