Hello,

I am hoping to use MapPoint as an alternative to google earth for planning/organizing story elements for my novel. I am still in the design phase and frequently add/change aspects based on concepts, ideas, etc.

I really want to be able to see satellite view while using mappoint, the ideal would to have it available offline or some way of saving the images for offline use. Is this a feature of MapPoint? Or perhaps an addon/mod?

I apologize if there is a thread that handles this already, I tried a search but couldn't find an answer.

There is a right-click feature with the newer versions of MapPoint, you can right-click on a location and go to Satellite, Bird's-Eye View, etc. by clicking on Show in Bing Maps. It will open a separate window and interface with all the options. They are also adding Street view images now as well.

To save the images off-line, I think you would have to use some screenshot software such as HyperSnap or Snag-It, but it's very straightforward.

I'm not sure if there's such an add-on (for off-line use) for MP. This is a feature I think I've seen in DeLorme Street Atlas. The software includes some sample satellite imagery, and users can buy and download more.

Detailed satellite imagery quickly adds up when it comes to disk space, as well.
