I have a strange problem ever since I reinstalled map point on my laptop. Whenever it tries to search for an address it will crash... However searching for postal codes and lat/long works fine. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? Kinda frustrating :x

The following shows up in event viewer whenever it crashes:

The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft MapPoint ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: mappoint.exe, 9.0.16.2001, mapobj90.dll, 9.0.16.2001, 00055164.

Can you tell me some specs on your systems. I am having either mappoint 2005 crash and at least give an event in the eventvwr or just hang the system. All the systems that are running it have dual core cpu's and wondering if that may be the issue.

Thanks

Hi,

Try to startup with 1 CPU. . You have to specify in the 'boot.ini' (root directory, hidden)
/NUMPROC=1
or
/ONECPU
One of the 2 is not documented. I think the former.

I'm experiencing similar problems with MapPoint. I am able to search by town/state and zip code, but the application crashes when I attempt to input a complete address (i.e.: 1925 Stenton Road, Philadelphia, PA 19144). Is there a quick fix for this issue?
