View Full Version : Custom Pushpins - from Excel

I might be dreaming here, but is it possible to create custom push pins that contain values from a linked Excel spreadsheet? In other words, there would be a column called "Code" in my spreadsheet and when that spreadsheet is imported the marker would fill in with whatever value is in that column.

How many combinations could there be? Can you pre-create them?

Also, how about if you just import the value as the "Name" of the Pushpin and then set "Show name only"?

Actually I did have a library for creating symbols on the fly for an old project, it was a .NET DLL. They would be be two characters e.g. AA thru ZZ in any of several different colors. I'd have to dig it up now, but I don't think it would work easily out of Excel VBA.

Thanks, Eric. Yes, they would be pre-created. I want to use the value in each cell in a specific column with a column heading of "code" as a the pushpin itself (or have the value display inside the push pin). So as we import/link that spreadsheet with our "master" map, each value would become each push pin. Each value represents a business that we want to market to. There are currently about 1,400 different values, but there could be more or less as we add or delete businesses.
