View Full Version : exporting to multiple GPS units

I need to map several 100 points and have the data split and loaded onto multiple GPS units. The person I have researching the procedure for me states it cannot be easily done and additional software is required. Also that it can only be done on certain Garmin models even though Garmin told me it would work on all models. Can anyone clarify this for me?

Let's clarify a bit the terms first...
"export" do you mean data from MapPoint to Garmin, or viceversa ?
From GPS to MapPoint I would call it rather import, and it's possible if you can bring the data from GPS in any format close to cvs, i.e. comma delimited values.
If you have such files, then use MP import / link data.
If you are not sure about file format, would be useful to post here a sample.

Thank you for replying. WHat I actually want to do is take data, originally on an Excel spreadsheet and import it into MApSource then plot it and devide it into numerous individual truck routes and then export the data in these routes into one of numerous GPS units. I have been told that the Excel file would first need to be converted to a gpx file by using two separate websites www.batchgeo.com (http://www.batchgeo.com) and then www.gpsvisualizer.com (http://www.gpsvisualizer.com). This seemed overly complicated to me. If I could use an xls or csv, which is what you are saying it sounds like you are saying that would make much more sense.

Would most Garmin models work for this. i had originally been told that any of the Nuvi units would but have since been told otherwise.

I appreciate your help on this
