I would like to select a set of Pushpins and export the details including the Lat Long coordiates to Excel. How can I do this?

Jane,

I don't believe there's a tool that I'm aware of for doing this exactly, but I think it would be straightforward to create.

I'd recommend the Pushpin Tool ($75) Pushpin Tool Add-in - MP2K Magazine (http://www.mp2kmag.com/downloads/pushpin.tool/)

This let's you select either All Pushpins or a single dataset and then export with Lat/Lons.

Another thing to check out would be MPSuperShape --

MPSuperShape (http://www.mapforums.com/10-discount-mapping-tools-products-8307.html)

There's a free trial.

RouteWriter will let you do this. In the RouteWriter dialog box, make sure 'Output Pushpin Coordinates' box is selected. I use this all the time.

RouteWriter is intended for route exports. So if the OP is trying to export pushpins that have matching waypoints, then yes it would be ideal. But for a general pushpinset or "selection of pushpins", then Pushpin Tool is probably the better choice.
