Hello All

Great to be a new member of the forum

I have an issue, our company has half of our people on MapPoint 2010, the others are on MapPoint 2011.

We realize that MP 2010 files can be opened in 2011, which is good.

The issue is, we of course cannot open 2011 files in 2010.

So, my question is, when we create a new file in MP 2011, is there a way to Save It As a 2010 file, so it can be opened and saved by other 2010 users?

I dont have enough licenses to upgrade everyone to 2011...I guess a follow up question is, can we somehow convert 2011 so it operates within a 2010 enviornment, sorta like using Windows 7 in a Vista format??

Thanks for the help, I am at a loss on what to do. (As a Non-Techie)

The easy solution of course is to make everyone stick to MapPoint 2010.

You might be able to cut/paste layers from MapPoint 2011 to MapPoint 2010 on a computer that has both versions installed but I'm not sure, you'd have to try it.

From what I've heard, I think the easy solution is probably the best solution for you right now :-)

I believe I have a solution for you. I zoomed out until I had the entire area I wanted data from on my screen (in my case it was the US). I then right clicked on the bottom right corner of the map and drug the mouse to cover the entire area. From there I went to Data and then to Export Data. This will create an excel spreadsheet with all the information. Save and email to everyone with 2010. They can then import it to their maps with little issue.

I hope this helps. It's better than asking for cost allocation due to software being incompatible. Microsoft really needs to write an add in for this simple fix.

Thank you and Good luck!
